Ukraine will increase grain and oilseeds production by 2030

Until the end of the current decade Ukraine will increase production of major agricultural commodities, which will allow the country to secure its status as a constantly growing producer and exporter of grain, oilseeds and vegetable oil, while sugar, milk and beef production is expected to decline.

This data is contained in a joint report by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), ProAgo Group reports.

“Ukraine’s corn harvest is forecast to grow from 33.9 million tons to 44 million tons (+29.4%), wheat from 26 million tons to 35.8 million tons (+37.8%), oilseeds from 22 million tons to 26.2 million tons (+19.3%),” the report says.

The production of vegetable oil is also expected to rise from 6.8 million tons to 8.4 million tons (+22.1%), poultry – from 1.1 million tons to 1.5 million tons (+33.9%), pork – from 0.7 million tons to 0.8 million tons (+15.5%), fish and seafood – from 99 tons to 101 thousand tons (+2%) for this period.

At the same time, it is projected that by 2030 the production of milk in Ukraine will decrease from 9.8 million tons to 8.9 million tons (-9.1%), sugar – from 1.3 million tons to 1.2 million tons (-10.1%) and beef – from 0.3 million tons to 0.3 million tons (-10.8%).
