Ukrainian cattle exports fell by almost a third

Exports of domestic cattle in January-October 2021 fell by 29.1% compared to the same period last year – up to 46 thousand heads.

This is illustrated by data from the State Customs Service, reports ProAgro Group with reference to UkraineFood.org.

In money terms, exports of live cattle lost 28.6% against the same period in 2020 and amounted to $24.6 million. Most of the domestic live cattle in January-October this year was bought by Jordan ($6.1 million), Uzbekistan ($5.4 million) and Egypt ($4.4 million).

Imports of live cattle for 10 months of 2021 increased by 8% against the same period last year – up to 3.7 thousand heads. In money terms, for the purchase of live cattle abroad, Ukrainian farmers spent $8.5 million – 11.5% more than in January-October 2020. Most actively live cattle was bought during last 10 months in Denmark ($2.4 million), the Czech Republic ($1.7 million) and Hungary ($1.6 million).
