Currently it is impossible to sow 3.5 million hectares of crops because of the war. Accordingly, the amount of future revenue is reduced, explained the Minister of Agrarian Policy Mykola Solskyi on the air of the UArazom marathon, reports “ProAgro Group,” citing the information of the Ministry.
As the Minister said, today the state recommends farmers and agrarians to plant primarily those crops, which are more expensive by the ton and take less weight to simplify the logistics of exporting. This applies in particular to sunflower, rapeseed and soybeans.
“Of course, the farmer today chooses at his discretion what to sow. But the State and all market participants are in contact with each other”, – stressed the minister, noting that the farmers are now fully provided with seed material.
Concerning the provision of fuel, Mykola Solsky responded that there is a certain forecasted deficit, but right now farmers have the opportunity to take the fuel they need for the sowing season.
The biggest challenge, as noted by the Minister, is the issue of grain exports from the country.
“The significant limitation of export logistics directly affects how much farmers and agrarians can sell grain – respectively, how much money they need for salaries, sowing, payments to tenants and the like. This is the most difficult thing,” he said.
Therefore, the priority tasks for today are: to establish logistics, to enable farmers to continue to work and make a profit, to retain business, to pay rents and provide employment of workers.
