Britain will nullify customs tariffs on imports from Ukraine

All duties on goods entering the UK from Ukraine under the current free trade agreement will be removed to help the Ukrainian economy. This was announced by the British government yesterday, Monday, reports ProAgro Group, citing Reuters.

London said that tariffs will be reduced to zero and all quotas for supplies will be lifted at the direct request of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. The move is said to give a boost to Ukrainian businesses involved in key exports such as barley, honey, canned tomatoes and poultry.

“We strongly support Ukraine in the struggle that continues, and we will work to ensure that Ukraine survives and thrives as a free and sovereign nation,” said British Secretary of International Trade Anne-Marie Trevelyan.

Meanwhile, the customs tariff change is being implemented on a non-reciprocal basis, but London hopes Kiev will respond symmetrically. Now the average duty on Ukrainian imports in Great Britain is about 22%.
