Egypt cancels contracts for 240,000 tonnes of Ukrainian wheat

Egypt has cancelled the contracts, which were signed in February and March, for the delivery of 240,000 tonnes of Ukrainian wheat.

The grain was booked for deliveries in February and March, but was never shipped due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the blockade of Ukrainian ports, ProAgro Group reported, citing Reuters.

Citing its sources, the agency noted that Egypt’s General Authority for Supplies (GASC) dismissed Nibulon and Inerco from their contractual obligations. However, there was no force majeure clause in the contracts.

Previously, GASC had granted the companies a delay if the shipments could be shipped via rail or road routes.
