FAO discusses the impact of the war in Ukraine on the world

During the 33rd session of the Regional Conference of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) for Europe, which took place in Lodz (Poland) from 10 to 13 May 2022, representatives of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine together with representatives of European and Central Asian countries discussed ways to ensure national and world food security, and the transformation of agricultural and food systems against the war in Ukraine.

It is reported by “ProAgro Group” with reference to the information of the Ministry.

FAO Director General Qu Dongyu urged FAO members to use the regional conference as an opportunity to discuss “potential approaches to prevent an even greater crisis in the future.”

The Europe and Central Asia region includes 53 high- and middle-income countries with more than 900 million people. The FAO Director-General recognized that the Region has established an important role as one of the world’s breadbaskets, and is the world’s leading producer of agrifood products, both in quantity and quality, even today.

The Region plays a key role in world food security and is an important source of new ideas and example for the rest of the world.
