World grain trade in the current marketing year may decrease by 2.4%, in particular, due to the war in Ukraine.
This is stated in the report of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), released today, reports “ProAgro Group” with reference to UNN.
“It is assumed that the volume of world grain trade in 2022-2023 agricultural year (July-June) may decrease by 2.4 percent compared to the previous marketing season, with a reduction in trade volumes expected for all major types of cereals,” the report says.
In particular, according to the FAO, it is expected that “the effects of the war in Ukraine and the strengthening of the US dollar will contribute to this reduction.”
According to the UN organization, grain production in 2022 will amount to 2 768 million tons, which is 1.7% lower than last year’s gross production.
