The number of outbreaks of African swine fever is increasing in Poland

In Poland, the annual increase in outbreaks of African swine fever (ASF) among domestic and wild animals is observed.

Last year saw the highest number of outbreaks among pigs since 2018, ProAgro Group reports, citing information from PigUA.

The total number among domestic pigs in the country totaled:

2018 – 213 outbreaks;
2019 – 48 outbreaks;
2020 – 104 outbreaks;
2021 – 124 outbreaks.

In addition, a significant number of ASF cases have been reported in feral pigs:

2018 – 3,347 cases;
2019 – 2,447 cases;
2020 – 4,156 cases;
2021 – 3,018 cases.
