Grain reserves of Ukraine as of December 1 increased to more than 33.4 million tons

During last month, grain reserves in Ukraine increased by more than 7.5 million tons and as of December 1 amounted to 33,412.7 thousand tons, which is also nearly 10.3 million tons more than on the same date in 2020. This is reported by ProAgro Group with reference to the data of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.

The increase in total stocks of grain during last month was owing to corn, the accumulated volume of which due to the ongoing harvesting campaign increased by 9.6 million tons and at the beginning of December amounted to 20,595.2 thousand tons, which is also by 6.5 tons more than the first day of winter 2020.

However, due to domestic consumption and exports at the beginning of this month, stocks of other major crops decreased. Thus, the volume of wheat stocks amounted to 10,126.7 thousand tons – 1.7 million tons less than a month earlier, but 3.3 million tons more than a year ago.

Barley inventories were also down at 1,693,000 tons, down nearly 275,000 tons from Nov. 1 of the previous year, but 338,400 tons more than on Dec. 1, 2020. Rye inventories were down the least at 255,500 tons, down 38,200 tons for the month, but 43,100 tons more than a year ago.

Of the total stock of grain in the country as of December 1 this year, most – 20,690.4 thousand tons were stored at producers’ facilities, while 12,722.3 thousand tons were in storage at elevators and processors’ warehouses.
