Canada was one of the first to volunteer and allocate funds for the purchase of means for temporary storage of crops. The bags have already been purchased by FAO, and in October they will be in Ukraine, said Minister of Agrarian Policy Mykola Solsky during an online meeting with his Canadian counterpart Marie-Claude Bibeau, reports “ProAgro Group”.
“We are grateful to the Government of Canada for providing temporary granaries for storing this year’s harvest. This is a very important decision, and you were the first to respond to our call,” the minister said.
The meeting also discussed issues related to the opening of Canadian markets for Ukrainian agricultural products.
As a reminder, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), with donor support from the governments of Canada, Japan and Germany, as well as the Australian charitable organization Minderoo Foundation, is implementing a project to further address the problem of grain storage deficit in Ukraine.
