As of January 2022 there is no deficit of mineral fertilizers in Ukraine. Moreover – at the beginning of the year the physical availability of fertilizers in the country is much higher than at the beginning of last year.
This has become known during the meeting on the situation on the mineral fertilizer market in the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, reports “ProAgro Group” referring to the information of the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Rada.
It is noted that the reduced supply of domestic producers is compensated by imports, which at the beginning of the current season has tripled compared to the previous period. Thus, for certain types of mineral fertilizers, in particular, ammonium nitrate and urea, the import increased by up to 50%.
At the same time, due to the rise in price of fertilizers, caused by a jump in gas prices, a decrease in their application to the soil is predicted. Thus, the reduction of consumption is forecasted at the level of -9% of the market capacity of the season. This indicator is based on a survey conducted by agro-associations among their members.
