During the second week of January, the regional divergence of live weight pork prices led to a weakening of the average market mark.
According to weekly monitoring of purchasing prices for pigs in slaughter conditions, the average index of the current week was 2.5% lower than the previous one and amounted to 48.5 UAH / kg, ProAgro Group reports referring to the analytical department of the Association of Pig Breeders of Ukraine
The beginning of the second ten-day period was relatively quiet for domestic pig farms in the center, east and south: livestock was sold within the planned corridor of 49-50 UAH/kg. Thus, most pig suppliers kept prices at the level of the first week of the year, and the occasional review of prices was limited to fluctuations of 0.25-1 UAH/kg within the specified price range.
Operators in Western Ukraine, on the contrary, felt an increased price pressure from processors, which moved the regional range of prices down to 46-47 UAH/kg.
Despite the regional divergence of prices, producers state the planned course of sales in the first half of January and the absence of surplus commodity lots.
