EU will support economic transformation of rural areas in Ukraine

The economic and investment plan for the EaP countries was officially presented at the Eastern Partnership summit. It provides for the attraction of 2,3 billion euros in the form of grants, a combination of financial resources and guarantees and has a total potential to attract up to 17 billion euros of state and private investments. ProAgro Group reports this, citing information from the Governmental Portal.

The economic and investment plan also contains a set of flagship initiatives for each of the partner countries.

Thus, one of the initiatives for Ukraine is the economic transformation of the countryside, which has a budget of 100 million euros. Land reform is one of the most important reforms underway in Ukraine. The EU will contribute to the Partial Agricultural Credit Guarantee Fund, which will give more than 10,000 small farms rapid access to affordable credit.

“Ukraine will receive the most support among Eastern Partnership countries under the Economic and Investment Plan. Flagship initiatives will cover areas of common interest for Ukraine and the EU, in particular will contribute to the implementation of the European Green Deal, digital transformation. A significant part of the funding will be used to support small and medium-sized businesses, which suffered significantly during the pandemic,” said Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olha Stefanyshyna.
