Government lifts ban on export of cattle, meat and by-products

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has lifted the ban on the export of cattle, meat and by-products, and instead licensed the export of these products abroad. This is reported by the “ProAgro Group” with reference to the information of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.

In particular, we are talking about the export of cattle, cattle meat, frozen meat and meat by-products.

“Ukraine has good prospects to develop both domestic consumption and export products, including the export of beef products with high added value, which is used in HoReCa (in restaurants, hotels for cooking), or cattle, which has high breeding potential. Since the domestic market is limited, our production is more than domestic consumption, and we have a certain surplus – it is about 10%, which can really be exported,” said First Deputy Minister of Agricultural Policy Taras Vysotsky.

He added that it is not just the opening of exports, but the licensing, so that the state could always control the balance. If the industry develops and we have a surplus – we allow export and issue a license, if we see that domestic consumption grows and above all it is needed for the food security of the country – then the license is not issued.
