Livestock industry adapts to work in war conditions, – Oleksandr Haidu

The livestock industry needs to change in order to survive and develop in war conditions. This opinion was expressed by Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy Oleksandr Haidu, addressing the participants of the Ukrainian Livestock Summit 2022, organized by ProAgro Group together with leading national associations of livestock and poultry farmers.

The war hit the industry quite painfully, Gaidu noted. More than 200 livestock farms were destroyed. Estimated losses amount to about 2 billion hryvnias, writes Agravery.com.

“I am sure that the war is not only losses and trials, but also additional opportunities. For example, due to the excess of grain, feed becomes cheaper. And our farmers and producers are already using this factor to restore the industry,” said Oleksandr Haidu.

According to the head of the relevant committee, lawmakers are already actively working to support the industry. In particular, customs procedures for cargo with live animals have been simplified, state support programs are being improved. Also, a bill has been registered that improves the legislation on food, feed and veterinary medicine, work continues on changes in export duties for the export of cattle.

“We do not give up, we change, we work in order to survive, recover and become even stronger!” Oleksandr Haidu urged.
