At its meeting on February 9 the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine transferred the authority for the formation and implementation of state policy on food safety and certain indicators of food quality, quarantine and plant protection, state policy in veterinary medicine, organic production, circulation and labeling of organic products from the Ministry of Economy to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.
This was stated by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Roman Leshchenko, reports “ProAgro Group” with reference to the information of the Ministry.
“The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food has received all the functionality necessary for quality work. It is the formation of state policy in the areas of: food safety and quality, quarantine and plant protection, veterinary medicine, organic production, circulation and labeling of organic products,” – said Roman Leshchenko.
He emphasized that this decision of the government primarily provides for unification and cooperation of all specialists within one ministry, data exchange and coordination.
