The U.S. will support Ukrainian farmers with $100 million.

The U.S. has established the $100 million Agricultural Sustainability Initiative (AGRI) to help the Ukrainian agricultural sector amid a worsening global food crisis exacerbated by Russia’s war against Ukraine.

This is reported on the website of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), reports “ProAgro Group”, referring to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.

It is noted that the initiative will be aimed at ensuring uninterrupted agricultural production in Ukraine until 2023, as well as addressing pressing issues with exports. Ukrainian farmers will have better and easier access to finance, as well as to fuel, fertilizers and pesticides, seeds and equipment.

In addition, AGRI-Ukraine will provide Ukrainian agribusinesses with drying, temporary storage and processing of agricultural products.

“During the last 4.5 months the maximum efforts of the President of Ukraine, the Government and the team of Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine were aimed at increasing export opportunities of Ukraine that were blocked because of the war and unavailability of sea ports as well as financially support our agrarians so that they could work in the future”, – said Nikolay Solsky, the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.

He expressed hope that this initiative will solve three important issues: storage and export of grain, financial solvency of farmers, development of horticulture and greenhouse industry.
