This year Ukraine has a record harvest with only early grains harvested 46 million tons. For the first time in history 33 million tons of wheat were harvested, which is 26% more than last year, and exceeded the preliminary forecasts of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, “ProAgro Group” reports with reference to the information of the Ministry.
Domestic consumption demand is about 7.5 million tons, of which 5 million tons are high-quality wheat. Subject to the formation of optimal transitional stocks export opportunities are estimated at 25.3 million tons.
To ensure food safety, avoid export restrictions, ensure the predictable regime of grain exports and stabilize the grain market in Ukraine, on July 5, 2021 a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and the participants of the grain market in 2021/22 marketing year.
In addition to the Memorandum with the participants of the grain market on October 19, 2021, Annex 1 to the Memorandum was signed, which defines the maximum volume of wheat exports at 25.3 million tons.
“There is no amplified export of wheat – this is a myth. Within the framework of the Memorandum we have fixed the general strategy on provision of predictable mode of grain export, which guarantees food security of the state. It has proved its effectiveness in previous years, as it provides predictability of actions of all participants of the agrarian market, continuous monitoring of the market ensures predictability of grain exports and market stability in the country”, – said Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy Taras Vysotskiy.
Recall that earlier the leaders of the public association “Mukomoly Ukrainy”, the Ukrainian Association of Bakers and the association “Ukrhlibprom” withdrew their signatures under the memorandum for 2021/22 MY because of disagreement with the limitation on the export of food wheat and the threat of the domestic market deficit of quality wheat in the second half of the marketing year.
