Ukrainian government introduces state regulation and daily monitoring of prices for a number of products

Given the significant increase in food costs, as well as the risk of further increases in consumer prices, the Cabinet of Ministers at yesterday’s meeting adopted measures to curb the situation, reports “ProAgro Group”.

It is noted that over the last year in Ukraine, the prices of products have increased significantly, in particular:

buckwheat – by 23.8% (+8.9 UAH/kg);
sugar – by 34.9% (+7.3 UAH/kg);
wheat flour – by 15.4% (+1.96 UAH/kg);
pasta – by 18.4% (+3.72 UAH/kg); and
milk – by 9.2% (+2.36 UAH/kg);
sunflower oil – by 48% (+20,25 UAH/l);
eggs – by 11,5 % (+3,15 UAH/dozen);
poultry – by 26,9% (+15,06 UAH/kg);
butter – by 12.3% (+5.46 UAH/kg).

Those are the products over which the state regulation of prices will now be implemented. It is noted that the marginal markup in stores shall not exceed 10% during the quarantine.

In addition, the Cabinet of Ministers plans to adopt an order “On measures to monitor and analyze the prices and the state of commodity markets”. The list will include 30 items, the agency “RBC-Ukraine” reported.

Thus, it is planned to instruct the State Statistics Service to ensure daily monitoring of consumer prices of goods and provide the Ministry of Economy with relevant information by 16-00 of the reporting day.
