Wheat export volumes from Ukraine in 2021/22 MY approved

Limit export volumes of wheat for the 2021/22 marketing year have been approved. According to the annex to the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and participants of the grain market, the limit export volume of wheat has been agreed at 25.3 million tons (all classes), ProAgro Group reported, citing the message of the European Business Association.

It is noted that this document is one of the factors to maintain a balance between domestic consumption of grain and export opportunities. After all, stability and predictability is a priority for Ukraine and one of the main factors of national and food security.

The Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and grain market participants for the marketing year 2021/2022 was signed on July 5, 2021. This document contains the mechanisms of cooperation between the participants of the grain market, exchange of information about the prospects of grain exports, monitoring of the grain market.

However, last week, three of the signatories of the memorandum, namely the “Mukomoly Ukrainy” public association, the Ukrainian Association of Bakers, and the “Ukrhlibprom” association, reported that they had withdrawn their consent to the document. The reason was that the document does not specify the maximum level of export of food wheat, which may lead to its deficit on the domestic market and to higher prices.
