This year farmers of the Dnipropetrovsk oblast have gathered almost five million tons of grain – a third more than last year, at a yield of 42 tons per hectare.

As noted the Oblast State Administration, almost 3.4 million tons of early grain (in particular, according to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, more than 2.47 million tons of wheat at an average yield of 44.2 centners/ha, 844.7 thousand tons of barley at 33.8 centners/ha), as well as 1.4 million tons of corn, 17 thousand tons of millet and 9.4 tons of sorghum were threshed.
In addition, among the industrial crops over 1.3 million tons of sunflower, 27.5 thousand tons of sugar beets and almost 10 tons of soybeans and rapeseed were put in the bins.
By the way, ten years ago the grain harvest in Dnipropetrivsk region was also a record and amounted to more than 3.6 million tons. Then 2.231 million tons of early crops were threshed: wheat – more than 1.4 million tons (at 31.4 c/ha yield), barley – more than 600 thousand tons.
