The harvest of grains and oilseeds in Ukraine this year is expected to be about 67 million tons. This was announced today at a briefing by the First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy Taras Vysotsky, according to “ProAgro Group”.
According to him, because of the war, this is not the volume that the country could collect, but it is still in the top 5 best harvests over the past 30 years due to the fact that farmers “worked to the maximum”.
Vysotskyi specified that out of the total gross harvest of 67 million tons, the harvest of grain crops is expected to reach 50-52 million tons, oilseeds – 15-17 million tons. At the same time, the harvesting of the main food crop – wheat, as well as the entire early group, is almost completed, it was threshed 19 million tons with an average yield of 40 c/ha.
“Taking into account that domestic consumption of wheat is 7.5-8 million tons per year, there is already twice as much wheat as we need in warehouses and elevators, so there is no threat of shortage,” the Deputy Minister stressed.
Regarding late crops – corn, sunflower and soybeans – Vysotsky noted that their harvesting has just begun, so it is too early to talk about the results, but it can already be noted that the yield of these crops is good.
