In the season 2020/21 Ukrainian high-olein oil was exported to more than 50 countries around the world. The oil extraction plant “Potoki” reported this on its Facebook page, informs “ProAgro Group”.
The company notes that high-olein sunflower is a sunflower with oil containing more than 82% of oleic acid Omega 9 (monounsaturated fatty acid) and a low content of linoleic acid Omega 6 (polyunsaturated fatty acid). At the same time, high-oleic sunflower oil is not genetically modified, it is bred using traditional breeding methods.
High-olein oil, which is extracted from such sunflowers, is an alternative to olive oil in its useful properties, but it is cheaper. It is gaining popularity every year due to the spread of the demand for healthy eating in the world.
“The yield of such sunflower in Ukraine is growing and in the new season is expected to get a crop of 1 million tons,” forecasts the company.
