AGR Group reoriented logistics to alternative transport

With the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, AGR Group has reoriented logistics routes from Ukrainian seaports to the EU market through road and rail transport, as well as the river ports of Reni and Izmail.

According to “ProAgro Group” with reference to Fixygen, a representative of the grain trading department of the holding said that the company will continue to export part of the agricultural products through land border crossings with the EU and the Danube River even after the liberation of the occupied territories from Russian troops and the resumption of full trade in the Black Sea by Ukraine.

According to him, after the outbreak of the war, AGR Group started looking for elevator capacities in the West of Ukraine and transporting crops there from the central regions of the country. Later, AGR Group established road and rail logistics channels for the sale of agricultural products in the EU, as well as agreed on cooperation with a European trading company with a fairly strong infrastructure throughout Europe and has already begun to supply agricultural products.

“In addition, we agreed that we will work together to load their volumes and gave guarantees that after our victory and the liberation of the occupied territories, we will maintain our partnership, even when the ports open and maritime logistics will be a priority again. Perhaps, we will even consider with the board the purchase of new clusters in the West of Ukraine for a more convenient partnership”, – said the representative of the holding.

Currently, the holding does not have access to deep sea ports for export, so it uses road and rail transport, as well as the ports of Reni and Izmail. However, such logistics is significantly more expensive than maritime exports, and is also associated with a number of difficulties, such as the inability to leave Ukraine for drivers – its citizens, or long queues of ships in ports.
