The involvement of the port of Mykolaiv in the “grain initiative” will be possible only after the release of the Kinburn Spit. This was stated by the chairman of the Mykolaiv OVA Vitalii Kim on the air of the national telethon, ProAgro Group reports.
“The delay is due to the ongoing de-occupation of the Kherson region, as well as the Mykolaiv region – where the Kinburn Spit is. Our ships have to sail a kilometer from the Kinburn Spit, which is dangerous. When the artillery will not reach there, it will be a very urgent issue. We are preparing,” Kim said.
At the same time, the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported that the Ukrainian army is fighting for the Kinburn Spit in conditions of information silence. The spit is located 4 km across the strait from Ochakov, allows to control the entrance to the Dnipro, Southern Bug, ports of Mykolaiv and Kherson.
Thus, the liberation of the Kinburn Spit in Mykolaiv region and pushing the enemy beyond the limits from where it could shell the entrance to the Dnipro with artillery will allow to control the exits to a number of ports and organize the crossing to the left bank of the Dnipro.
