At the auction on distribution of freight cars through the system “Prozorro.Selling” on November, 1 the rate for the use of grain cars rose to 5953,25 UAH/day.
This was reported by the director of the commercial work department of “Ukrzaliznytsia” Valeriy Tkachov, informs ProAgro Group. He noted that “Ukrazaliznytsia” does not benefit from such speculative prices for grain carriers.
“A sharp increase in the rate of payment for cars will lead to a loss of total volume of grain transportation by rail. The rate of payment on cars (3-6 thousand) stimulates the outflow of volumes to motor transport and the river. UZ gets the main profit from the transportation of cargo (transportation tariff), and not from the use of wagons. The railcar component in our total revenues was less than 10-15%. Now it has increased to 30%. It is more profitable for UZ to transport more cargo”, – said Tkachov.
