Turkey and Russia negotiate resumption of Ukrainian grain exports by sea

Turkey and Russia have reached a preliminary agreement to resume supplies of Ukrainian agricultural products from the key Black Sea port of Odesa. However, Kyiv remains skeptical about the proposed solution.

According to ProAgro Group, this was reported by Bloomberg agency.

In particular, the Turkish government has offered military assistance for demining the waters near Odesa and escorting the ships with grain. But Ukraine does not approve of the demining because it is concerned that it could leave a vital port open to Russian attack.

It is also known that the Russian-Turkish plan will guarantee the safe exit of ships from the Black Sea under the auspices of the United Nations. Turkey, which is trying to be a mediator in the conflict, aims to establish a center in Istanbul to monitor and coordinate cargo. For its part, Russia demands the ability to inspect ships bound for Ukraine for weapons. Kyiv is also not sticking to this condition.

Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov is expected to hold talks on the plan on Wednesday in Ankara. The participation of a representative from Ukraine remains unagreed.
