Ukraine can export up to 6-7 million tons of cargo through the land border and three seaports

Through the land border and three seaports, Ukraine will be able to export up to 6-7 million tons of cargo per month, predict the company Dragon Capital.

This is reported by ProAgro Group, citing Forbes.ua.

The publication notes that the largest ports, which accounted for more than 85% of sea cargo turnover, remained under the control of Ukraine: Nikolaev, Olvia, Odessa, Chornomorsk and Pivdennyi. But they work for “return” goods: businesses can export their cargoes by road and rail.

The war created opportunities for the growth of three small ports at the mouth of the Danube – Izmail, Reniysk and Ust-Dunaisk. Now they are the only three ports out of 13, which can fully operate. In peacetime they accounted for slightly less than 5% of exports. According to Sergiy Vovk, Director of the Center for Transport Strategies, now they can transport the same volumes as in peacetime, but the potential of the Danube direction is great. However, in order to expand the capacity of cargoes, the railway infrastructure in this direction should be restored.

“If this is done, we can get another port that will give the possibility to go to the sea and go to Constanta,” he said.

Through the land border and three seaports, Ukraine will be able to export up to 6-7 million tons of cargo per month, Dragon Capital predicts. In March, the railroad exported 415 thousand tons of grain, which is 79% less compared to the same period last year, said deputy director of the department of commercial work Ukrzaliznytsia Valeriy Tkachov at a meeting of Trend and Hedge Club.
