Ukraine closes seaports on occupied territories until control over them is restored

By order of the Ministry of Infrastructure Berdyansk, Mariupol, Kherson and Skadovsk seaports are closed because of Russia’s war against Ukraine until control over them is restored.

This is stated in a message on the website of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, reports “ProAgro Group”.

“In connection with the full-scale war unleashed by the Russian Federation on February 24, 2022 and conducted against Ukraine and the Ukrainian people in violation of international law, carrying out missile strikes throughout Ukraine and committing crimes against our society, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine has adopted an order to close the sea ports,” the message says.

It is noted that the adoption of such a decision is due to the inability to service ships and passengers, to ensure an adequate level of safety of navigation and environmental protection during the conduct of military operations by Russia in these regions, which pose a threat to life and health of people.

As reported, from the first day of the war the ports of Ukraine in the Black and Azov Seas were closed for the entry and departure of ships. So far, the ports of Mykolayiv, Olvia, Yuzhny, Odesa, and Chornomorsk partially handle fleet handling and shipments by rail and road.
