Ukraine may limit the cost of grain transshipment by state regulation

First Deputy Minister of Agricultural Policy Taras Vysotsky told on the Espresso TV channel how in the near future the problem of inflated prices for the transshipment of Ukrainian grain will be solved, as well as how the lack of diesel fuel and mines previously occupied territories affects the sowing campaign, reports “ProAgro Group”.

“The creation of excessive demand from those wishing to transship grain has enabled service providers, and these are private companies, to significantly increase the cost of these services. In terms of economic or national patriotism, this is wrong. Since the market can not cope, we are now discussing two alternatives: either the companies will react adequately and return to the normal market rates, or there will be state regulation of prices, as it is in the sale of fuel or socially important food products,” said Taras Vysotsky.

He also noted that because of blocking of Ukrainian ports millions of tons of domestic agricultural products can not be exported in necessary quantities, which has led to its significant rise in price on international markets. Moreover, there are already first signals of serious shortages in the Middle East and Africa. Now grain from Ukraine is shipped mainly by rail and road.
