A delegation of the Lithuanian Seimas Economic Committee has arrived in Ukraine. It also included representatives of a number of Lithuanian specialized associations – builders, grain producers, chambers of commerce and industry.
The main purpose of cooperation of Lithuanian partners with Ukrainian specialized associations is to promote Ukrainian exports, which have significant logistical difficulties due to the blocking of ports by Russia, says ProAgro Group.
“Had only two requests to our partners: to help unblock the ports and help build 300 km of railroad track in Poland for direct grain shipments to the Lithuanian port of Klaipeda. This port will be able to ship 20 million tons of agricultural products annually. I have received full support of this project from our Lithuanian partners”, – told Andrey Dikun, chairman of All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council after the meeting.
Members of the Lithuanian Seimas Committee noted that the major problem of railroad transportation to the ports of Klaipeda and other European ports is unsynchronization of wide Ukrainian railroads and narrow European ones. It will take a long time to develop Ukraine’s narrow tracks, and the export issue is critical. Therefore, Lithuania also proposes to extend the section passing through Poland to Lithuania, and it will be a special wide track, which will allow not to lose time and effort for reloading of cars.
