Ukrainian agricultural holdings are looking for grain export opportunities

The full-fledged sowing season remains important not only for Ukraine but also for the markets of many countries, as Ukrainian grain and oilseeds take a significant place in world exports, says “ProAgro Group”.

To provide export opportunities, “Epicenter Agro” has reoriented to transshipment through Poland, Romania, Hungary, Moldova and Slovakia. According to Svetlana Nikityuk, the head of the central office of the department of agricultural issues of the holding, they are not a good alternative to the seaports, because they can provide the daily transshipment of up to 20 tons, whereas the ports can accept 200-250 tons per day.

However, over time, Ukrainian agrarians will be able to increase the capacity of exports, subject to the safety of the railroad.

The agricultural holding Astarta also noted the stalled grain exports by rail. According to Yulia Bereshchenko, director of investor relations and business development, the company has agreed to supply 25 thousand tons of corn to European customers in April, but has not yet received the necessary permission from the railway authorities.

Astarta noted that it has about 150 thousand tons of grain in its silos, mostly corn, whereas at this time they should be almost empty.
