Astarta-Kyiv Agricultural Holding has finished the season of sugar beet processing, which lasted 100 days. Totally, the sugar mills processed 1 844 thousand tons of beets and produced 266 thousand tons of sugar, ProAgro Group reports referring to the press service of the company.
It is noted that the sugar content of raw materials remained at a high level and averaged 17% (the average value in Ukraine is 16.9%). Sugar yield was 14.4% (the average value in Ukraine is 14.2%).
“This year the company’s sugar mills processed 18% more sugar beet compared to 2020 and produced 18% more white sugar than last year. Traditionally, 99% of sugar produced at our facilities meets the highest quality category, including 53 thousand tons of extra quality sugar”, commented Valeriy Sokolenko, CEO of Astarta.
In 2021 the holding’s enterprises harvested 1,584 thousand tons of sugar beet at an average yield of 474 c/ha. In total, Astarta produced 339 tons of sugar from sugar beet and imported raw cane sugar in 2021.
