Agricultural holding “Ovostar Union”, one of the leading producers of eggs and egg products in Ukraine, produced 1.69 billion eggs in 2021, which is 1% more compared to 2020, reports “ProAgro Group” citing the company’s information.
Sales in the shell eggs segment increased 8% year-on-year to 1.15 billion eggs. The company shipped 264 million eggs for export in 2021, down 24.4% from 2020. Export shipments accounted for 23% of total sales in the segment (33% in 2020).
The average selling price of eggs (excluding VAT) in Hryvnias rose by 35% in 2021 compared with 2020, to 2.18 hryvnias per unit. At the same time, the increase in dollar terms was 34%, to $0.08/piece.
The total flock of poultry at the company as of December 31, 2021 amounted to 8.4 mln heads – 6.3% more than a year earlier. Of these, 7 million were laying hens, a 6% increase over 2020.
