Yesterday, at two elevators in different parts of Ukraine – first in the Sumy region, then in the Prykarpattia region – dryers loaded with sunflower caught fire at grain storage enterprises. This is reported by “ProAgro Group” with reference to the information of the regional departments of the State Emergency Service.
So, on Wednesday, October 5, in the late afternoon, a large-scale fire occurred at an elevator in the Konotop district of the Sumy region – a grain dryer with sunflower caught fire on the territory of a local agricultural enterprise. The fire service was reported at 18:09.
“It was established that the fire was in a 17-meter-high grain dryer. There was a threat of fire spreading to the nearby storage bunker. At 20:40, the fire was localized. At 05:55, using about 120 tons of water, the fire was eliminated,” – the rescuers informed.
A dryer in Sumy region was still burning when at 23:04 a fire was reported at an elevator in Rohatyn, Ivano-Frankivsk region.
“Upon arrival at the scene, the reconnaissance found that the seeds were burning in the upper part of the drying elevator. The fire was localized at 03:54 and eliminated at 06:47. Thanks to the professional actions of the rescuers, 75 tons of sunflower were saved at the scene,” – the SES reported.
