Import of citrus fruits to Ukraine has increased by half in 5 years

With the arrival of the first cold weather the demand for one of the main sources of vitamin C – citrus fruit – grows. And without the traditional smell of mandarins can not imagine the New Year holidays.

That is why in December the maximum quantity of citrus fruits is imported – up to 30% of the annual volume, reports ProAgro Group, citing the information of the Ukrainian Club of Agrarian Business.

According to preliminary estimates, citrus imports in 2021 will amount to 392 thousand tons, which is 1.5% higher than last year and 53% higher than 5 years ago.

The significant share in the structure of imports in 2021 belongs to mandarins (43% of Ukrainian imports), followed by oranges (26%), lemons (18%), grapefruit (10%) and lime (1%).

The main suppliers of citrus fruits in 2021 are traditionally Turkey (47% of imports), Egypt (21%), China (7%), South Africa (5%) and Spain (4%).
