In Ukraine sowing campaign was successful, 75% of last year’s area was sown

Sowing campaign, despite unprecedented challenges, was carried out successfully. According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Foodstuffs, there have been sown 75% of last year’s areas. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal wrote about it in his Telegram channel, reports “ProAgro Group.

He noted that under the program of preferential loans “5-7-9” to support agricultural producers, banks had granted 38.5 billion UAH, of which 24 billion UAH under the program of state portfolio guarantees.

Prime Minister noted that now begins the preparation for the harvest, and named the main challenges that now face the farmers:

• the first is the need to export the harvest. The Ministry of Infrastructure is working on measures to increase the capacity on the western border of Ukraine. After all, due to Russia’s blocking of Ukrainian ports we are left with 23.5 million tons of grain and oilseeds;
• the second one is to preserve the new harvest. The Ministry of Agrarian Policy is considering the possibility of organization of mobile storage facilities, taking into account international experience. This will allow Ukraine to increase storage capacity by 10-15 million tons;
• The third is the provision of fuel for farmers.
