By the end of January 2022, Ukraine produced 522.1 thousand tons of milk, which is 1.5% less than in January last year. That said, 243.3 thousand tons, or 46.6% of all milk was produced by industrial farms, and 278.8 thousand tons (53.4%) – by households.
This was reported by the analyst of the Association of Milk Producers, Yana Linetska, reports ProAgro Group.
She noted that, according to the State Statistics Committee, despite a fairly modest increase in the number of cows in January, the industrial enterprises showed a significant increase in milk production: compared to last year it was increased by almost 7%, and if we compare it to the data of the five-year dynamics – by 9.2%.
“The increase in commercial milk production is quite expected and is due to investments made by farms to increase herd productivity and production efficiency. However, as practice of the previous years shows, it is indicators of the first month of January that the State Statistics Committee corrects for the next 2-3 months, and then a pleasant indicator of growth of the industrial sector, obviously, will be changed downwards, but the Analytical department of AMP expects that the increase of the share of milk from dairy farms will not be lower than 4-5%”, – the expert noted.
