The second half of February began with the strengthening of procurement prices for pork in Ukraine: the average market price of pigs of slaughter conditions has increased by 0.6% to 43.95 UAH/kg. The strengthening of prices on the domestic pork market was reported in the analytical department of the Association of Pig Breeders of Ukraine, as ProAgro Group informs.
Last week’s trading ended positively for pork producers, because most of them were able to review prices by 0.25-1 UAH/kg upward. As a result the lower mark of the price corridor rose, so prices in all parts of the country consolidated within a narrower price range of 43-45 UAH/kg. Thus, while in some places the regional disparity of prices is still present, it is much less pronounced, because the demand for pigs has become more uniform.
Producers of pork state that the realization of commodity batches is planned and without any carry-over, while the processors show a noticeable recovery in demand. Taking this into account, the planned selling price for the current week is forecasted at 45-47 UAH/kg, depending on the commodity volumes and regional location.
