Most of the pig farms in the regions that are not affected by the hostilities continue to operate in normal mode. This was stated by the Association of Pig Breeders of Ukraine after a survey of key operators in the industry, reports ProAgro Group.
In early April the association conducted a survey of 70 major players in the pork market in different regions concerning plans for their activities during wartime. According to the results of the “reconnaissance,” 70% of the surveyed pig farms from relatively safe regions are not changing their production rhythm and/or are not reducing their livestock.
“The vast majority of pork producers have a “fighting” mood – expecting to win, they work in the normal mode, raise animals, keep their jobs, pay taxes and provide the country with pork. Of course, there are some enterprises, which, since the beginning of the invasion, have taken a course to reduce the number of pigs. However such moods have only one of ten enterprises-respondents on the territories free from military actions”, – commented in the branch association.
ABU analysts point out that the most difficult situation is now in enterprises from the Donetsk region of Luhansk, Kharkiv, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions.
