Pork prices grow slower than other types of meat

According to monitoring of national supermarkets, retail prices for chilled pork in January 2022 were on average 7.7% higher than a year ago. This is reported by the ProAgro Group with reference to the information of the Association of Pig Breeders of Ukraine.

The difference in prices in January 2022 compared to the same period last year ranged from 3% to 11% upward, depending on the type of chilled meat.

For example, the average January price of more expensive assortment items, in particular pork loin and steak, rose by 10-11% to 151 and 164 UAH / kg respectively.

The hips and now unseasoned jackknuckle have added about 3.5% compared with last year’s level. Their price in the first month of 2022 was 116.5 UAH/kg and 147.9 UAH/kg respectively.

At the same time, the rise in price of pork is considerably lower than the rise in prices of other meats over the same period. The average consumer price of a kilo of beef in January was 195.6 UAH/kg, which is almost 31% more expensive than in January 2021. The price for chicken increased by 28% (up to UAH 73.5 / kg), and for chicken fillet by 30.5% (up to UAH 122.65 / kg).
