This year the area under soybeans in Ukraine will grow to almost 2 million hectares

In 2022, the areas under soybean crops will increase to 1.6-1.7 million hectares, while last year they reached 1.3 million hectares.

This opinion was expressed by the representative of Rizobacter, Artem Nadolski, reports ProAgro Group, citing Latifundist.com.

According to him, this trend will be observed given the price of products and the high cost of fertilizers, because soybeans require less nitrogenous fertilizers than other crops.

At the same time, the Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Trade Representative of Ukraine Taras Kachka emphasized that the Ukrainian soybean market is not yet fully aware of which customer it should focus on: the consumers of GM soybeans or non-GM soybeans.

In turn, Susanne Fromwald, Executive Director of the Danube Soya Association noted that growing soy in Ukraine is quite in line with the objectives of the European Green Deal strategy as it requires less use of pesticides. Also, according to the expert, organic production can be increased with the help of soybeans.
