Ukraine for the first time imports greenhouse cucumbers from Russia

For the first time in the history of market relations between Russia and Ukraine, the latter is importing greenhouse cucumbers. As known, previously the situation was the opposite: the main market for Ukrainian vegetables was in the Russian Federation.

This is reported by ProAgro Group with reference to the First Business.

This situation arose because of the high cost of cucumbers from other fellow importers. And we are talking about at least 10%, which, after recalculation, significantly affects the retail and wholesale prices in the domestic market.

In Ukraine, the production of greenhouse cucumbers engaged in only a few combines, production of which is catastrophically short. Because of that the prices for the vegetable jumped up to 38-45 hryvnias per kilogram. So cucumbers are also bought in Turkey, where they cost 5 to 10 hryvnias per kilogram cheaper. Cucumbers are also imported from Belarus, where they are even more expensive than in Turkey.

Prices of Russian greenhouse cucumbers are much lower. They are the cheapest among all competitors, because there is a downward price tendency for this commodity on Russian domestic market.
