Sugar refineries will receive 10.6 million tons of sugar beet for processing in 2021.
This is reported by the press-service of the Sugar Beet Production Research Center, informs ProAgro Group with the reference to AgroTimes.
Taking into account the average sugar yield in Ukraine (as of November 11), 1.44 million tons of sugar will be produced from the received raw material, and even more if such positive tendency of sugar output dynamics will be kept.
Alexander Korotinsky, director of Sugar Beet Production Research Center, estimates that domestic consumption totals 1.38 million tons of sugar per year. Accordingly, the domestic market will be fully supplied with domestically produced sugar.
According to the Ministry of Economy, Ukraine produced 1.1 million tons of sugar in 2020/21 MY due to unfavorable weather conditions, which led to a reduction in the sugar beet harvest, which is 25% less than in 2019/20 MY. In the current season, the Ministry envisioned sugar production at 1.4 mln tons.
