Every country in the world pays its own price for the Russian war because of the grain shortage and inflation caused by it.
This was stated on Wednesday by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Mykola Solsky at a ministerial-level meeting at the UN headquarter, “ProAgro Group” reports with reference to “Ukrinform”.
“I want to emphasize that due to grain shortages and inflation, every country in the world is already paying the price for Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. The rise in food prices has already felt or will feel the citizens of all countries of the world, including developed countries.” – he said.
Solskyy noted that until February 24, Ukraine exported through its seaports 5 million tons of grain per month. In March, exports decreased to 200 thousand tons, in April it was about 1.1 million. This means that more than 20 million tons of grain and other crops grown last year did not reach the world market, he added.
According to him, this year Ukraine expects the harvest to be 50% of last year’s, as most winter wheat was sown in the east and south of Ukraine, where the fighting continues. In addition, the Russians are actively stealing grain from the occupied territories.
