The first Panamax was loaded with Ukrainian corn in Constanta

Yesterday, April 28, in the Romanian Black Sea port of Constanta more than 71 thousand tons of Ukrainian corn were loaded on the vessel Unity N, which became the first cargo from Ukraine after the invasion of Russia.

This was reported by the head of the port operator Comvex, reports “ProAgro Group”, referring to Reuters.

The agency notes that because Ukrainian seaports were blocked after the war began, the world’s fourth-largest grain exporter was forced to send cargo by train across its western border or through smaller ports on the Danube River in Romania.

Comvex operates Europe’s fastest grain terminal, which can handle up to 70,000 tons of cargo a day. Earlier this week, the operator completed loading about 35,000 tons of Ukrainian iron ore, and a second vessel is scheduled to load around May 15.

About 80,000 tons of Ukrainian grain have been delivered to Constanta so far, with another 80,000 tons in transit, the port manager said Tuesday.
