EU lifted restrictions on imports of poultry products from Ukraine

On January 17, the European Union lifted the restrictions on imports of poultry products from Ukraine, which had been in place since December 2020 due to the detection of cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza in our country.

This is reported by “ProAgro Group” with reference to the information of the State Service of Ukraine on food safety and consumer protection.

“Poultry products account for a large share of Ukrainian goods that are exported to the EU. Therefore, the removal of restrictions by the European Union is very important for our exporters. The decision allows to resume the export of poultry products from the entire country, “- said the chairman of the State Consumer Service of Ukraine Vladyslava Magaletska.

Due to the work on the elimination of outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza and measures to prevent the spread of the disease, the restrictions that had been set have been removed in full.

The SCS notes that in recent years the system of state control of poultry influenza in Ukraine has been repeatedly evaluated by inspectors from the competent authorities of the EU, USA, Japan, Canada and China, in particular.

According to the results of the evaluations, the system of state control of poultry influenza introduced in Ukraine has been recognized as effective.
