Production of fresh dairy products is decreasing

Production of fresh dairy products is no longer growing and dairy farmers do not seem eager to increase it. The struggle for raw materials has ceased. The reason is a reduction in retail orders and a general decline in consumer demand.

The producers’ desire to raise prices and cut promotional sales plays an important role in this reduction, ProAgro Group reports this referring to INFAGRO. But even under such conditions, producers intend to further increase prices for fresh dairy products. The main positions for December are as follows:

  • milk 2,5% – 27-28, 5 UAH / liter;
  • kefir 2,5% – 30,5-32,5 UAH / liter;
  • sour cream 15% – 68-73 UAH / kg;
  • cottage cheese 9% – 115-130 UAH / kg.

The drop in production of fresh dairy products concerns only high-margin products. Even the output of cheese products last month decreased to 7.1 thousand tons. Dairy products ptoduced in October is 10% less than last year (33 thousand tons).
