Price of electricity since the beginning of the current season has increased from 3,8 UAH to 6 UAH per KW, but it is still quite profitable form of alternative to natural gas for the work of grain elevators.
This was said by the operational director of G.R. Agro Artem Rempen, ProAgro Group reports with reference to company information.
According to him, electric boilers are quite inexpensive, so G.R. Agro intends to install them to heat all the premises.
“There will be quite a significant savings. At current rates, more than twice as much. Gas heating will cost about 200 thousand UAH for each elevator, and electric heating – 80 thousand UAH. Besides, electric boilers are inexpensive, they will pay off in two months,” – calculated Artem Rempen.
Electricity can even be used as an alternative for drying grain – such an example Artem Rempen has seen at a German elevator. Frugal German colleagues installed 2 wind turbines, one serving the plant, and the second – a large industrial boiler of the grain dryer.
“The heat exchanger is filled with antifreeze instead of water, like in cars, it circulates through the circuit. Behind the heat exchanger is an exhaust fan that draws in hot air. I was very surprised when I saw this,” said the specialist.
