Two elevators in Chernivtsi region will be reconstructed to store more than 17 thousand tons of grain. The facilities will be put into operation this year.
This is what Bogdan Boichuk, the head of the department of agro-industrial development of the regional administration said, “ProAgro Group” reports referring to “Public. News”.
Elevators are being re-equipped in two localities in the region. One enterprise will be able to store and process 15 thousand tons of grain. The other has more than 2 thousand tons, and next year, the company plans to increase the volume of simultaneous storage by more than a thousand tons.
According to Boychuk, if necessary, it will store grain from other regions.
“Now it is more profitable to import processed products, for example, flour from other regions. If it were the central regions, it would be more profitable in terms of logistics, but since we are a border region, logistics and storage is a financial cost,” said Boychuk.
In total more than 450 thousand tons of grain can be stored in Bukovyna. This year the region expects to harvest within 580-600 thousand tons, but large holdings export their products to other regions.
